What are the procedures to pay interest charges on late payments?
The bank does not charge travelers interest; however, there is a provision in the law that permits travelers to be paid interest when their agencies take more than 30 days to settle their travel claim. The Air Force generally pays travelers within three to four days from the time the voucher is approved for payment. We do not expect to have any 30 day overdue interest charges and are not making any plans for it. Travelers who think they may be owed interest can file a claim at the FSO office but it would never be more than a dollar or two and would be considered income for the year and reported to the Internal Revenue Service.
