A lot of tourists are coming to Kerala. But the people of Kerala have not geared up to receive them and consider them as their guests. Tourism has been declared as an industry in Kerala. But the declarations are just in papers. The main problem faced by investors in the sector is the difficulty in getting land. For other industries, for example The Smart City project, the government of Kerala acquires land and hand it over to the investors. That is not happening in the tourism sector. To set up a resort a minimum of five acres of land is required. In destinations like Kumarakom, the whole area is paddy farms which are kept idle. But no one allows you to set up a resort in that land. If government comes forward providing land for setting up resorts like the Bekal Project, fifty percent of the problem will be solved.
