What are the priority indications for use of available tetanus vaccine?
All routine Td boosters in adolescents and adults should be delayed until adequate supplies are available. Td use should follow existing ACIP recommendations for all other priority indications, which include: • persons traveling to a country where the risk for diphtheria is high*; • persons requiring tetanus vaccination for prophylaxis in wound management; • persons who have received fewer than three doses of vaccine containing tetanus and diphtheria toxoids (DTaP, DT or Td); • pregnant women who have not been vaccinated with Td within the last 10 years.
