Planned development of the Valley will foster two essential and complementary areas: The development of big projects orientated around: the production of energy using water and coal; exploration of natural resources and minerals such as granite, coal and tantalite; transportation systems; development of local industry to feed off the energy produced. Projects include development of a hydro-electric plant at Cahora Bassa (South and North), Mpanda Uncua, Boroma, Lupata, the thermal energy plant of Moatize and rehabilitation of the Sena Line. Co-ordinated activities with the local community destined to foster agricultural development, forestry, livestock, fishing and small business activities. In short, the Zambezi Valley presents unquestionable potential for the sustainable development of Mozambique, SADC country members and for the continent as a whole.
