Adults are typically deficient in calcium because they do not drink milk and they do not get enough sun for their bodies to make Vitamin D. They are often also deficient in nutrients required for absorption due to poor diet and mineral deficient soil on American farms. Many kids also are calcium deficient because some parents think milk is bad for them because of the fat and switch them to juice, and because kids consume highly acidic soft drinks.
