What are the pre-requisites for the UCSD lactation consultant program?
The pre-requisites for the UC San Diego Lactation Consultant program are: • Completion of a minimum 45 hour lactation education training program, preferably the UC San Diego program, within the last 5 years. • Completion of the requirements for the specific pathway which may or may not require additional hours in the basic 6 subjects. • Completion of a online Breastfeeding Basics course that is provided at no cost from UCSD and Case Western university (students will be given access to the course after they are registered). • Submission of a paragraph on why one wants to be a lactation consultant (Due the first day of class or thru the Yahoo student group site). • Completion of the self assessment checklist (Available once a student has registered for the course). • Completion of the clinical requirements paperwork. • Please address any additional questions to the program coordinator at email: Bakerswim@aol.com.
