What are the pre-requisites and cabling experience required before completing the Cabler Registration courses?
• Recognised OH&S training relevant to building cabling activities. Examples include State WorkCover/WorkSafe issued OH&S construction induction cards; OH&S subjects studied at TAFE as part of building or electrical trades. • Students should have at least six months prior relevant building cabling experience, including the use of hand and power tools. Examples of relevant building cabling include installation of telecommunications, electronic, data, security or electrical cabling. • Students should have a knowledge of fundamental DC principles. A free tutorial is available here. You are able to attend the course without meeting the pre-requisites, but will be issued with a Letter of Attendance rather than a Certificate. If you do not meet the experience requirements, you may be assessed as ‘Not Yet Competent’ and will need to gain relevant experience as outlined above and re-assessed at a later date.
