What are the potential sources of contamination that could affect the health of plants in the project area and along the transmission corridor?
Vegetation losses within the East Toba and Montrose area will be minimal. Most of the habitat affected will be mesic and moist forest, mostly in structural stages 4-5 (young forest). These habitat types are not uncommon in the area and do not provide particularly high-quality habitat for the priority wildlife species. To minimize the impact of loss of habitat, temporarily disturbed areas will be re-planted with native species, and coarse woody debris resulting from clearing will be added to disturbed areas. All construction vehicles used on the Project will be thoroughly washed before their arrival by barge to the Toba area. Special attention will be paid to wheel wells, tire treads and tracks where mud and seeds may be lodged.
