What are the possible consequences of an abdominal aortic aneurysm?
An aneurysm is kinda like a bulge in a vein that can burst. The simpliest description I’ve ever heard was to imagine an ol’ fashioned bicycle tube with a weak spot. The weak spot begins to bulge outward, which is what the aneurysm does only with far more devastating results that a simple flat tire. I’m not sure if it’s discusssed in th article cited or I picked it up in related stories on Harvey Korman, but blood clots are another issue that can result. The aorta is the major vein that carries blood from the heart, so when it begins to develop the bulge, serious consequences can result.
