Positives – Increased land values in the local and broader precincts. – Tourism facilities which enhance Glenelg’s image and attraction. – More residents in Glenelg, paying rates and supporting local services and businesses. – Marina berths for recreation use and contributing to the tourism image. – New boat lock – an important public facility replacing an outdated one. – Surrounding areas now being improved as a “spin off”. – Cleaned up image of both the site and its environs. – Pedestrian/bike path network connected and integrated through the development. – Car parking for public access. Negatives – Loss of views to beach from some locations, including Anzac Highway. – Uses public land, which might have been developed for active and passive community recreation only. – Exposed to possible storm damage and sand deposits. – Possible pollution sources in marina berths and stormwater outlets, if not well managed.
