What are the positive effects of putting toddlers in beauty pageants and what are the negatives ones?

Positives- May develop a friendly sense of competition. May build her self-esteem May build her social skills and public speaking skills May give you the ability to discover her talents (as demonstrated in the talent portion of the competition) which you can use to encourage her as she gets older. Negatives- May cause her unneeded stress and anxiety to perform and win May cause her to lose respect and self esteem for herself if she loses May cause jealousy issues May give her a false sense of what is “beauty” Takes away from her ability to be a “child” Beauty pageants are for adults, personally. But that’s just my opinion If you notice most of my pros/cons start with “May” This is because you can never really predict whether a positive outcome or negative outcome will happen. If you are seriously thinking about doing this, make sure if you start noticing her behavior changing for the worst, to stop. Try to build her up and make sure she KNOWS that no matter what the outcome of the page

It really depends on how serious you take it. My little girl is 3 1/2 and we do beauty pageants but she loves it. If she doesn’t want to do it then we don’t. I will not and do not believe in putting any child including mine in the pageants that want the fake hair, make up and etc. My daughter ONLY does natural pageants. The positive side is they get to meet lots of little kids. My daughter has made some friends from doing this and lots of them we still talk to. The kids get to play and normally we take them to McDonald’s after the pageant. The down side is what it cost. If you get really into it, its not cheap. Also lots of parents get to involved in it and start MAKING the kids do it which isn’t right. This is for fun and that is it.
