What are the positions of the input and output shafts in relation to the gear box?

0

The lateral position of the input shaft is of course central to the nacelle. The vertical position is less constrained — the height of the gearbox mounting plate relative to the rotor centreline can be made to suit a variety of gearbox heights. The lateral and vertical locations of the gearbox output shaft are unconstrained. Essentially, the generator is relatively small enough to be placed anywhere to suit the gearbox. The input, output and intermediate shafts should all be parallel.
