What are the policies regarding computer accounts?
First and foremost, users are to abide by the University policies regarding the responsible use of computing resources. (As with the law, ignorance of these policies is not a defense for their abuse, whether intentional, or not.) In addition to these policies, local computer management has instituted the following: • Users should refrain from consuming food/drink in the lab. • Documentation should not be removed from the lab or the computing management offices. Under certain circumstances, you may “check out” documentation by contacting the computer facility director, in person. • Never turn equipment off; ask the operator on duty for assistance with equipment problems. Equipment abuse will not be tolerated. • Computer users have priority to chairs; people using lab chairs while observing others must relinquish their chairs to those users who are actually accessing the system.
