What are the Police doing about 24 hour opening and problem premises?

There have been very few 24 hour applications nationally and none for pubs and clubs in Hertfordshire (as of 19/9/05). Very many premises are asking for an extra hour or two at night. Some supermarkets are asking for a licence to sell alcohol whenever they are open.
