Metro is no longer requesting assistance from Borgess in the financing of the new hospital; as a result the question of a merger has been set aside for now. However, the two organizations remain committed to working together as regional partners. This includes ongoing discussions about a role for Borgess in the development of the Health Care Village, as well as the newly created shared services organization that will eventually take over responsibility for the information technology of both Metro and Borgess.
