What are the placement criteria for Chinese language courses?
The placement criteria are: a) Non-heritage students and heritage students (students with Chinese background) will be placed in separate tracks. (See Course Description for details) b) Students who attended grade 1 to 2 or the equivalent in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, or Singapore, will be placed in 100 level heritage language courses (CHIN111-CHIN118). c) Students who attended grade 3 to 4 or the equivalent in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, or Singapore, will be placed in 200 level heritage language courses (CHIN211-CHIN218). d) Students who attended grade 5 to 6 or the equivalent in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, or Singapore, will be placed in 300 level heritage language courses (CHIN311-CHIN324). e) Students who attended grade 7 to 12 or the equivalent in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, or Singapore, will be placed to 400 level classes.
