What are the physically apparent symptoms of mental illness?
Mental illness specifically doesn’t tend to have readily apparent physical features. There is “monster in the bushes.” These people look just like anyone else. Especially if they are being treated and are not experiencing symptoms. If they are expiriencing symptoms it may be somewhat evident in some cases. Some types of schizophrenia and the negative symptoms associated with it can cause a decline in hygiene and or a blunted affect where the individuals face may appear stone like. They may loose the ability to show emotions in the face. But these are not an across the board symptoms. Hygiene issue, particularly that are not usual, may be present in a number of other disorders such as depression, bipolar, and various psychotic disorders. But not everyone who starts to look a tad dingy has a mental illness. Anorexia is a mental illness that comes with a whole string of physically apparent characteristics.
