What are the Perkins Performance Metrics?
Since the 1998 Perkins Act (Perkins III) data has been required for Federal reporting. State and local performance accountability systems were again included in the 2006 Perkins Act (Perkins IV). The intent of this part of the Act is “to assess the effectiveness of the State and the eligible recipients of the State in achieving statewide progress in career and technical education, and to optimize the return of investment of Federal funds in career and technical education activities” (Section 113, (a), 2006 Perkins Act). The State will negotiate measurement definitions and targets for 8 Secondary CTE core indicators and 6 Postsecondary core indicators. Local Perkins recipients will be expected to support the achievement of the negotiated targets.
