Jeremy Richardson: There aren’t that many key differences between the legal issues for manufacturers of children’s apparel and manufacturers of adult women and men’s apparel. The key difference would be in terms of safety regulations and potential liability that manufacturers of children’s apparel have to comply with that don’t exist for adult apparel manufacturers. There are fire retardant fabric regulations for children’s sleepwear. There are issues with small parts and appliques, you wouldn’t want a small button on an item of children’s apparel that could easily come off and be swallowed or cause a child to choke.
