What are the overnight trains like?

Russian trains are solid, utilitarian and reliable. Apart from on our Treasures of the Tsars tour, all our passengers are reserved in open sleeper carriages. On Treasures of the Tsars from Moscow to Novgorod you will be in a 4-berth lockable sleeper cabin. In the open sleeper carruages and 4-berth cabins, you’ll have your own cosy berth complete with fresh-laundered linen provided (except Trans-Siberian Train Service) and a place to stash your luggage. Though not air conditioned, trains are thankfully heated during the winter season. Letting the train take the strain is the most comfortable way to achieve distances that would otherwise entail a somewhat unenlightened drive with little legroom. It’s possible to upgrade from open sleeper carriages to a 4-berth cabin, contact us for more details. All our tours include a relaxing overnight journey by train.
