What are the outcomes and benefits of the new state-of-the-art procedures?
There are several state-of-the-art procedures that are performed by Dr. Daneshfar at the ACPSC. The percutaneous laser diskectomy in appropriately selected patients will improve symptoms in 79 percent of the patients as reported by the medical literature. Although the final data is not out, in appropriately selected patients, the IDET procedure improves symptoms in 90 percent of the patients at the ACPSC. This is compared to 60 percent failure rate reported in medical literature for lumbar laminectomy and open diskectomy. The advantages of the IDET and percutaneous laser diskectomy are: Minimal to no skin incision (less than one-quarter of an inch), no need for general anesthesia (procedure is done under IV sedation), no entry into the spinal canal thus less chances of scarring of spinal nerve roots, no leakage of nucleus pulpous (the center part of the disc herniating) into the spinal canal thus less chances of scarring of the spinal nerve roots, no loss or damage of annulus fibrous (
