What are the other grounds for divorce in Illinois?
They are: 1. Natural impotence at the time the marriage is commenced and continuing thereafter; 2. Bigamy; 3. Adultery; 4. Desertion for a period of one year which could occur during the pendency of the action for divorce, but is not the simple result of moving from the marital residence, but typically ones secreting of ones self from one’s spouse; 5. Habitual drunkenness for a continuing period of two years; 6. The excessive use of addictive drugs resulting in gross and confirmed habits for a period of two years to the point that the drugs have become a controlling or dominant purpose in the spouse’s life; 7. Malicious attempts on the life of the other spouse by poison or other means; 8. Extreme and repeated acts of mental cruelty; 9. Extreme and repeated acts of physical cruelty; 10. Conviction of a felony or other infamous crime; or 11. The infecting of the other spouse with a sexually transmitted disease.
