NEWS RELEASE Gretna ferry’s hours extended due to increased ridership demand NEW ORLEANS – Beginning Monday, Nov. 30, the Gretna ferry will operate with extended hours due to increased ridership demand, the Louisiana Department and Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today. The new operating hours are Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday 12:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Departures are scheduled from Gretna on the half-hour and from Canal Street on the hour. The ferry operates seven days a week. The ferry, which used to travel between Gretna and Jackson Avenue, was shifted to travel between Gretna and Canal Street on Sept. 28 in an attempt to increase ridership of the ferry service. Since the route shift, 19,251 pedes
