What are the operation options for the ISO-NE load response program?
The emergency generator may be operated in either a closed transition or an open transition configuration. The closed transition configuration requires a make before you break switch operation to synchronize with the grid and supply power to the electrical grid with approved interconnection. This would require a facility to maintain its connection with the electrical grid which would maximize the capacity payments available. Capacity payments and grants would be based on the full net power output of the emergency generator.
