What are the Oklahoma Tribal Statistical Areas (OTSA)?
OTSAs are identified and delineated by the U.S. Census Bureau in conjunction with federally recognized tribes and are intended to provide a geographic framework for tabulating statistical data for federally recognized American Indian tribes that had a reservation prior to Oklahoma statehood. All OTSAs must be contained within the current boundaries of Oklahoma. OTSAs primarily represent the former reservation boundaries, and are not required to conform to any other geographic entity (except state) for which the Census Bureau tabulates data.
