What are the odds of getting pregnant on the pill?

0

I am 49 years old, married to my husband for 30 years. We have 4 children who are 28, 26, 23, and 10. Our 10 year old was conceived quite unexpectedly when I had been taking birth control pills without fail for 11 years. I had not taken any medications that would have interfered with the Pill’s effectiveness nor had I been sick with vomiting or diarrhea which may have eliminated the Pill from my system before absorption. The Pill’s effectiveness is 94-99%. This means that in a year’s time, if 100 women take the Pill, 1-6 of them will still get pregnant. Pretty good odds, unless you are the 1-6 of the women. For me, after taking the Pill for 11 years, taking it everyday at the same time was an ingrained part of my daily routine. My older kids were 18, 15, and 12 when their baby sister was born. It was a good reinforcement of the truth that anytime you have sex, you can get pregnant.
