What are the odds of finding my birth mother?
One thing that may be working against you is the accuracy of the information you do have. I’ve had to deal with the former Soviet countries and I don’t have a lot of faith in their recordkeeping practices. We adopted our son in Ukraine several years ago when he was 2 years old. After we got back to the U.S., we found out that almost all of the documents were falsified. He was abandoned at a hospital at 9 months of age. No one would have been able to verify the names of the birth parents or even his place of birth unless there was some type of contact with the family after his abandonment. There was absolutely no record of anyone visiting him there or at the children’s home where he ended up, so everything we’ve ever received has been a lie. I’m so sorry if this is bad news. I don’t want to discourage you from searching for your birth parent(s), but be realistic about your search. You may never find what you’re looking for and you need to be prepared for that. Good luck and peace to you
