What are the objectives of the Street Soccer program?
• To give the game back to the kids as their initiation to summer soccer. • To instil a love for the game. • To have players work on their problem solving skills and creativity. • To develop volunteer facilitators into future coaches. • To educate parents on positive sideline behaviour. More tips and info for new soccer parents: • Only players born in 2005 are eligible to begin this program. • Shin pads are mandatory but cleats are optional. • Most players wear shorts with soccer socks and shin pads and either regular running shoes or outdoor cleats (no sandals, sunglasses, watches, jewellery or anything that can fly off or injure others). • Only soft-brimmed hats are permitted on the field (no baseball caps). • Parent or caregiver is required to be present at the field at all times during the session. • When the ball goes out of bounds, the team who had the ball gives up possession and the other team kicks the ball in.
