What are the Objectives of the CAPA Initiative?
• Establish a partnership among schools which need to improve, their district central offices, the DOE and qualified professionals on a CAPA team to analyze all facets of the school’s operation and produce recommendations for clear, achievable, ambitious, and focused instructional goals and practices for each school; • Avoid duplication by incorporating the CAPA process into efforts underway in the district and which focus on instructional priorities; and • Comply, through a single process, with the requirements of NCLB. The ultimate measure of CAPA’s effectiveness is its contribution to improving student performance by building district and school capacity to improve teaching and learning.
