What are the nutritional differences between soymilk and cows milk?
Soymilk is perfectly acceptable for children older than one year. Soy protein differs from cow’s milk primarily in protein content. The protein is isolated soy protein–a high quality, complete protein that provides all essential amino acids necessary for growth and maintenance. In addition, the fat from soy is primarily of the unsaturated type. Fortified soymilk can also provide 200-300 mg calcium per cup. Clare M. Hasler, Ph.D.
