Do you mean what is the #1 cause of police using their sirens? That depends on the area. In low crime areas they’re probably just responding to traffic accidents. I went on a ride along with a San Bernardino County deputy and we rolled code 3 twice. The first was for a traffic accident and the second was for a fist fight involving 4-5 people. As far as arrests go, there are probably more drug arrests than any other type, with marijuana possession composing about half of those (847,000 in 2008 alone). I know for a fact about the marijuana arrests but you can look up the new 2008 UCR (uniformed crime report) for exact numbers of all arrests.
