What are the notes in the practice chanter?
The practice chanter is pitched one octave lower than the bagpipe chanter, which is a coincidence of physics that does not affect its use but which makes the sound even less penetrating. A practice chanter can be attached to a bagpipe bag by use of a simple little stepped adapter (called a “goose adapter”) but it cannot generally be played together with the pipe’s drones because of the difference in operating pressures.
