What are the Normal Values for 24 Hour Blood Pressures?
A. The upper limit of normal for ambu;atiry blood pressure is 135/85 mmHg for the daytime readings, and 130/80 for the average 24 hour level. There are two reasons for choosing the 135/85 level. Fist, studies realting ambulatory blood pressure to the risk of heart attacsk and strokes have shown that the risk increases markedly above this value, and second, it corresponds to the widely accepted treatment goal of 140/90 for office blood pressure.
