What are the normal charges for a Lactation Consultant?
If you saw them in the hospital when you delivered, it was free. You can talk for free to our lactation consultants on the phone at any time (you can even leave a message and they’ll call you back.) If you want an office visit, they charge $30, but that covers the initial office visit and any other follow ups you need–plus you could come in at any time and use their scales to weigh the baby, etc. Make sure that the lactation consultants are “IBCLC.” If money is an issue, look into a La Leche League chapter where you live, their organization is volunteers–and you might even get better advice from a la leche league leader.
