What are the NICEIC & Corgi and other such bodies?
These are trade accreditation bodies. The NICEIC carries perhaps the most weight at the moment following the recent requirement that all domestic electrical work is carried out by an NICEIC approved installer. This is not to say home electricians can not now change a light fitting, but to remain legal you should join the domestic accreditation scheme. Corgi is much the same but for gas installations. There are various other bodies for general builders, NHBC, FMB etc, but it is only really the services sectors where these accreditations are vital.
