What are the next steps for the City of Los Angeles?
The proposal was approved by the City Planning Commission in early June 2005. Public testimony was taken at the LA City Council’s Planning and Land Use Management committee on January 31, 2006. The matter is expected to be heard again and on March 21, 2006. It will also have to be approved by the City Council. What about the County of Los Angeles? The LA County Regional Planning Commission held a hearing in June 2005 on a proposal that closely followed SB 1818, with little elaboration. SCANPH, Livable Places and other community housing developers applauded the proposal for getting rid of the Conditional Use Permit the County required for any development using the density bonus.
