Certain Medicare suppliers of durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) must meet Medicare’s quality standards and become accredited by October 1 and obtain a surety bond by October 2, 2009. These new supplier requirements will help to ensure that people with Medicare get high quality medical items and services from qualified suppliers while helping to prevent fraud in the Medicare program.
