For reasons related to security, new passwords must meet an updated list of criteria. The following password policies are now in effect: • Passwords must contain at least 1 letter. • Passwords must contain at least 1 number or punctuation mark. • Passwords must be between 8 and 16 characters long. • Passwords must contain more than 4 unique characters (unique characters are letters, numbers, or punctuation marks that are different from one another). • Passwords must not include easily guessed words (e.g. Purdue, itap, boiler). • Passwords must not contain your name or parts of your name (e.g. Bill, Julie, Bob, or Susan). • New passwords must be different from previous passwords (re-use of the same password will not be allowed for one (1) year). NOTE: Faculty and staff will continue to be required to reset their passwords every 30 days. Students will be required to reset their passwords every 120 days, and will be prompted on campus workstations within 14 days of expiration. Additional
