Here are the details of the birth: The Phoenix Zoo is pleased to announce the birth of two baby Grevy’s zebras who will make their public debut together on Friday, July 11, 2008. The two male zebras were born within one week of each other on June 16 and June 23, 2008. The father to both boys has never successfully bred before coming to the Phoenix Zoo. The babies have not yet been named, but the public can help the Zoo choose names by going to the Zoo’s website (phoenixzoo.org) to vote on four choices for both boys. The winning name will be announced at the end of the month. The babies spent a few weeks off exhibit with their two moms before making their debut to ensure they were strong and healthy. Both are doing very well and weighed just over 100 pounds at birth. The mother of the first foal born is “Afiya” and she has been at the Zoo since 1997. She has had a total of four babies at the Phoenix Zoo. The mother of the second foal is “Masika” and she has been the mom of three babies
