What are the new businesses the group expects could become big in the future?
We have created a lot of new businesses in the last seven-eight years. We have several new businesses that are gaining traction. We have Tata Sky (direct-to-home television services provider), we’ve got our insurance companies in life and general insurance sectors. We’ve got Croma in retail, where we have a technical arrangement with Woolworths. Trent is, of course, a mature retail player. Tata Capital is 100 per cent funded by us. Then, we’ve got a BPO (business process outsourcing) firm under Tata Sons. We have a philosophy — we want to be in businesses that are into national priorities. Thus, we won’t go into cigarettes or liquor. For instance, we have a small start-up that is building supercomputers.
