What are the negative issues associated with virtual teams?
This was selected as Best Answer Mr. Jeffryes is correct, as usual. Socialization is a key factor in the ability for a team to confer and brainstorm a better solution. But, on a very negative side, as experience has taught me, working with a large number of freelancers (much like a “virtual team”) means the supervisor spend most of his/her time playing project manager. Sometimes a team member has said they’re on track but really are not. When a team member has shirked their part in the process, the chain breaks, the team is thrown into turmoil, others have to pick up the slack and there’s resentment among other team members. The problem becomes more time and effort is wasted on babysitting individuals than on the tasks at hand, running the business and servicing the client’s needs. The turnover of team members due to these factors also means more time needed to replace those workers. As for workable solutions, well, that’s also problematic.
