What are the negative aspects of having two high schools?
There are many perspectives and voices in this regard. Some positives noted in this ongoing conversation have included: 1. Some say that Indiana school systems that have two high schools find a continuous struggle between curricular equity and opportunity— that one high school is always considered the inferior or slighted one—and that the issue is ever present in the life of the community and culture of the school staff, students, and parents. 2. Some say the commitment to reducing competition for resources, as well as providing equal opportunity to students in each school, results in a situation where the curriculum of both schools is homogenized/harmed. 3. Some say that two high schools would result in community rivalry and competition for local support and resources thus harming the unique character of Zionsville.
