What are the native animals of Hawaii?
depending on which island certain animals tend to inhabit the less populated places…Well, the word native branches off into too endemic, and indigenous (did i spell that right??) but indigenous means the plants/animals are found in other places besides hawaii (or any place for that matter) but yet they still got here without the help of man. For an example an indigenous animal is the mynah bird. Endemic is that they are native and they are found NO where else in the world; the more exotic ones that most people like seeing. For example, nene, the state bird. Some rainforest birds are: the elepaio, the i’iwi, apapane, and the i’o. Native sea-birds are: the red-footed booby, the moli, koa’e’ula. Birds that live in swamps and marshes are: the ae’o, the koloa, alae’ula, etc. Cool non-birds to see are the : hawaiian green sea turtle, the humpback whale (if u go during winter) the many types of streamlife like o’opu, (gobies) hihiwai (water snails) opae (shrimp).
