What are the names of the drugs that are used to prevent low white blood cell counts?
There are two short-acting drugs, Neupogen® (G-CSF) and Leukine® (GM-CSF). These drugs are given subcutaneously by injection (under the skin), usually for several days after the chemotherapy. There is a long-lasting drug, Neulasta® (pegylated G-CSF) that is usually given subcutaneously the day after your chemotherapy and lasts for up to 2 weeks to prevent low white blood cell counts.
