What are the myths/legends about the mayan calender?

0

This is the Mayan long count calender. The Mayans were pretty advanced and had a number of calenders to account for different things, including a day to day yearly calender similar to our own but which had 260 days. There have been a lot of myths/legends about the destruction of the world in 2012 but that is about it really, and this is based on nothing more than the fact that it comes to an end on 31st Dec 2012. This long count calender is essentially all about the stages or eras of civilisation as the Mayans saw it. This (the era we are in now) is simply the last era they predicted.
