What are the Most Prestigious Barber Shop Schools?
Northern New Mexico College is a 4-year college in Espanola, New Mexico, offering several options for future barbers, cosmetologists and estheticians. Aspiring barbers may be interested in a 2-year associate’s degree in barbering, which includes such courses as facials, haircutting, shampoos, hair coloring, community health and chemical restructuring. These are accompanied by general education courses such as public speaking and business math to better ready students for the professional environment of barber shops. Upon completion of this Barber Shop school program, students will have met the standards set by the New Mexico Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists for licensure, which include one clinical practicum. A certificate of barbering is also offered by NNMC.
