What are the most pressing issues facing African-Americans and the wider black Diaspora today?
It’s a difficult question because there’s not a monolithic African-American or Diaspora community. Depending on what your education level is and how much money you have and the world you live in that may be different. But there are issues plaguing all of us, like climate change. And as much as it’s not on the radar, I think the long-term implications of climate change are going to most drastically affect poor people, whether it’s relating to immigration or natural resources. Education is a major issue all over the world in the Diaspora, whether it’s black Americans living below an economic level that affords them the ability to pay for private school and are forced to deal with public education that is destroying our young people, intellectually, emotionally and socially, or our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world where, if you don’t have a certain income, you can’t even afford to go to school.
