In my opinion, utilitarianism is a stepping stone toward humanism. Utilitarianism does not acknowledge the intrinsic worth of the individual the way humanism does. Instead, it’s more based on one’s worth to society. The StarTrek axiom “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” is fine, but the utilitarian equivalent would be “the pleasure of the many outweigh the needs of the few” which is a bit ill.
