What are the most common risks to children when playing with toys?
Small parts that pose choking hazards and ride-on toys (e.g., trikes, bikes) pose the most common risks to children. Sadly, every year there are incidents related to choking on small parts, so it is very important to keep small parts away from children under three or from any child who tends to mouth objects. There also continue to be unfortunate incidents related to ride-ons and in most cases these involve a child riding the vehicle into traffic or into a swimming pool. Supervision and following instructions for safe use are critical to preventing these tragic incidents.
