What are the most common poisonous plants?
A lot of native wild plants are poisonous. Examples of which are the Common Foxglove (source of the heart drug Digitalin), Woody Nightshade and Wild Parsnip, the sap of which can cause severe blistering of the skin when exposed to sunlight. It is also related to the Giant Hogweed notorious for producing hollow stems and used by children as blow-pipes. In past cases children subsequently developed severe blistering and scarring around the mouth. The velvet stems of Stags Horn Sumach can cause eczema in susceptible people if handled too much and the sap of most Euphorbias (including the Christmas Poinsettia) can cause skin irritation. Florists have also had skin problems when handling Monkshood.
